Frequently Asked Questions
What browsers does this work in?
Currently, The Browser Buddy has an application for Internet Explorer. TBB is designed for computers running MS Windows operating systems, such as XP, Vista, etc.
We do not yet have TBB ready for the Apple MAC.
Do I need to install anything else for the TBB software to work?
Yes, and this is important. Each User must install the Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 from Microsoft before the TBB application installation. The .NET download is Free.
You can download and install the Redistributable Package from spx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5" target="_blank">Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 from here and install it now if you like.
Is the TBB software and User Account free?
Yes, it's free. You can set-up a Free account online anytime and download and install the TBB software. That is free to everyone.
There is a Premium Service that a User can upgrade to if he or she desires, but that's not required. The free TBB account works fine, but there are more features with Premium service.
What are the Premium services?
1. Premium services let you select an unlimited number of websites or web pages to include in your allowed site list. That list is viewable through the "View sites" page. The Free accounts are limited to 20 sites.
2. The Premium services also support multiple PCs from one User account. That's useful if you have more than one PC at home and you want all the TBB controlled browsers to have the same allowed site list. Small companies like this feature, since one company administrator can control TBB settings for all the company computers.
3. Premium Users can also create several allowed site lists, such as one list for the home computer, one for the kids computer and one for the office computer.
4. We are adding a scheduling feature, so Mom and Dad can choose times that web browsing is allowed. Any attempts to browse the internet outside those allowed times will be blocked.
We will be adding additional Premium Services as we upgrade the site. One future upgrade will be to enable Multi-Party Authorization to control editing of Allowed Site lists.
How do I cancel my Premium subscription?
First, log into your account on this site and hit the Cancel button on the Premium tab. Second, go to your Paypal account and cancel your subscription to this site.
After you cancel your Premium service your account will revert to Free. Only the first 20 URLs will be then retained on your allowed site list.
Is there a time limit on how long I can use a Free account?
No, there is not a time limit on Free accounts. You can use the Free toolbar for as long as you want.
